What is Woodworm?
Woodworm, also known as the common furniture beetle (Anobium Punctatum), is a household pest found living inside wooden timbers of older properties. The common furniture beetle is responsible for around 75% of all woodworm damage to a property. The flying beetle is approximately 3mm long, and will lay eggs on the timbers, which hatch into larvae grubs.
These eat through the inside timbers for as long as five years before emerging through the wood via small exit holes. The larvae then transition through pupation metamorphosis, growing wings and turning into flying beetles. The entire process will repeat again when they lay eggs, causing further structural damage to the existing building timbers.
